CAPI is a national competition designed to empower high school change makers to explore real-world issues through civic lenses. Students propose original solutions for local or school challenges and are judged by Austin Council members and Texas Representatives. Whether you're crafting legislation or analyzing investment impact, this is your chance to turn ideas into action.

Deadline: May 31st, 2026 (spring term)

Work in a team of 3-5. Three winners will be selected from 10 finalists.

Finalists/Winners will receive monetary prizes from $50 to $300. There is NO limit to the number of entries each person can submit.

Finalists and Winners will be announced July 20th, 2026

Competitors are advised to check their email for results.

Choose a Competition Style

Written Report

  • Length: 800–1,500 words

  • Format: Google Docs

  • Share the doc as a PDF, NOT a link

  • Subtitle for each required section: Problem → Background → Proposal → Stakeholders → Plan → Challenges → Conclusion

  • Title your document: "Policy2025_[Team Members Names]"

What Makes a Great Report?

  • Clear thesis statement/conclusion

  • Visuals (graphs)

  • Research on current issues and policies

Video Submission

  • 5-10 min length, unlisted YouTube or Drive

  • Clear visuals

  • Uncut (no editing)

  • Title your video: "Policy2025_[Team Members Name]"
